OH, NO! Not M_____!!!
I usually stop by Sutter’s to say “Hi” to people before I go to the gym. It is in this way that I can keep up with everyone and everyone sees me, even though I’m not having a few beers.
The other day, I saw M____ there. She had apparently disappeared to Florida for a month, to visit a friend who just completed a nasty divorce. Now she was back, looking for a place to live with her pets and a job. There was some doctor there with his girlfriend, having a few drinks. M____ wanted me to stay and buy her drinks, but I was going to have none of that. I had to go to the gym. I’m still not in the shape I want to be in, and I’m not paying for a whacked-out airhead to get drunk. There isn’t enough return on investment there.
When I left the gym, I strolled by Sutter’s again. M___ was still there, two and a half hours later, sponging drinks off some poor engineering student. The doctor had apparently dropped off his girlfriend, and was also buying her drinks and shots. As I walked by, her cabbie friend strolled up and walked in. I felt really sorry for all those guys. She was using all three to get herself hammered, and get taken care of. The worst part was, they all thought they were going to be gettin’ some, not that it’s all that great to be got.
I pity the fools.
