Cool Tune: The Wind Cries Mary
This is probably one of my favorite Hendrix tunes. It’s a classic psychedelic blues tune, quiet, moody, with a good baseline and a drifting, muted, ethereal guitar riff. Supposedly, Hendrix wrote this because he and his girlfriend, Kathy Etchingham, got into a fight about her cooking. She stormed out, and he wrote the song. There’s nothing like music inspired by a woman.
