A New Job
Yesterday, about 10 minutes before I was to go to lunch, I received a third call from a corporate recruiter where I work. I was being offered a position that I had applied for in a different department than the one I currently work in. It is a lateral move, and not really a promotion. My new salary will be slightly less than I made last year, if you total my base salary, all of the hundreds of hours of overtime that I worked, the few monthly bonuses I earned, and the shift differential I was paid for working a late shift. It works out to about a $20 a week smaller paycheck for working 40 hours instead of 50+ hours a week. I’ll also be working from 7:30 – 4:15 instead of 9:30 – 8. There will be absolutely no reason to have a customer transferred to my line to bitch about something that someone else did or did not do.
I think it’s worth the twenty bucks.
The only issue will be the fact that I will be starting work much earlier than I am used to, and getting out much earlier than I am used to getting out. I’m going to have to start conditioning myself to getting up at insane o’clock, and going to bed at stupid o’clock.
Again, I think it’s worth the twenty bucks.
