Windows Sucks Balls
What a pain in the ass Winblows is. I have spent the last 24 hours fucking around with my computer trying to get it to work.
Yesterday afternoon, I was posting to the messageboard, and my computer crashed. The messageboard is written in pHp, which microsoft doesn’t really like. I also had a site on a different tab that was written in asp, the cheesy microshaft version of pHp. I guess the conflict of interest was too much for Winblows to handle.
At first, my computer didn’t respond at all, then via safe mode, I was able to do some troubleshooting. I defragged both hard drives, cleaned stuff off of C:/ thinking that if I freed up some space, it would work better. I was wrong.
I started doing some diagnostics. I turned off system.ini win.ini to see where in the startup process it was hanging. Initially, I thought it was a problem with the boot sector, because it stopped seemingly immediately when I clicked the boot on. I fritted around with that, re-installing Winblows.
After a while, I discovered that it is a problem with my video card. When I have it installed, the computer stalls in the startup. If I disable it, the computer tries to install it, and then if I shut down after insallation, I go back to the startup stalling.
Needless to say I was getting pissed.
The only reason I am online now is that I didn’t restart my computer after the driver tried installing. My monitor is set at 640X480, an impossible GUI setting to work with. It reminds me of working with Windows 3.1, as far as the quality goes.
But at least I have a little access to the internet.
I am debating just going over completely to Linux, or wiping my hard drive and startting over again with Winblows.
I’m leaning towards the Linux distribution. I’ve been talking about it for a long time. It’s about time I did it.
