Stumble It!Post Erection Blues

Filed under: Politics — Eric Ptak @ 3:37 pm

Unfortunately, the woman I voted for to be mayor lost, and lost badly. I had such high hopes, too. More than several people told me that they were voting for her. So I figured that the poll in the Buffalo News was off. Unfortunately, it was pretty much spot on. Byron Brown(D) won by a landslide. At least it wasn’t Helfer(R) who won.

In the Erie County Legislature, the Democrats won a vast majority. It seems that Democrats around the country made some big inroads, as people are apparently getting sick of the Republican/Conservative bullshit and hypocricy. They claim to be fiscally conservative, and for smaller government, yet, when they are given a budgetary surplus, they run up deficits and expand the government, give out patronage jobs and all the other stuff they claimed they wanted to end. Hopefully, with a Democratic lock on the local government for the next two years, the city and county can work together and solve problems rather than exacerbate them.

I thought it was funny listening to people who said that the reason they voted Democrat for Virginia governor was because Bush went around campaigning for the Republican. Talk about the kiss of death! LOL

Prop 1 was rejected soundly, which is good. We don’t need the state senate and assembly having free reign to do whatever they want with the budget without gubernatorial oversight. Prop 2, the transportation referendum passed. I voted for it because it is good debt. Improvemnts to infrastructure, while it can be expensive, is necessary, and will only serve to increase the quality of life here in NYS. It also allowed for the purchase of 300 hybrid buses around the state. It’s good for the environment.
