Stumble It!Bills Give One to the Jets, 28-20

Filed under: Sports — Eric Ptak @ 4:16 pm

What a disappointing game so far. The Bills started out really good, with a couple of long passes to scoore in the first minute of the game. But in the second and third quarters they basically bit the dust. They played some horrendous ball, with Losman losing 2 fumbles which led to scores b the Jets. The defense has not been playing that well, and the special teams were average at best. Then there was the fourth down attempt tha tdidn’t work, and the play out of Mularkey’s playbook with that braindead fake field goal attempt.

So, with 18 1/2 minutes left in the game, the Bills need to do something: score two touchdowns and shut the Jets down completely. Can they do it? Only time will tell. They need to go to run the ball. Give the ball to Willis and cram it down their throat. THrow short passes for a couple yards and decent runbacks.

In short, ball control. Keep the ball, drive it slowly but surely down the field, and score. Three, four yards at a time. Tire the defense out. As long as you keep the ball from the Jets offense, they can’t score.

But an interception like Losman just threw will not do it.

And now they have 15 minutes to fix this pig, and get it back the way it’s supposed to be running.

They started out with a nice drive, but what’s with the trick plays? That thing at the end of the drive was dumb at best. Jam it down their throats. Now, they have nine minutes to score twice, and keep the Jets from scoring.

Now one question I have is what the hell is tripping doing in a football game? This isn’t hockey. This is football. A guy stiff-arms you, and they call a penalty on you. That’s a load of crap.

But the Bills defense played badly, the special teams were less than special, and the offense made some key errors and had some stupid fucking play calls. This game should have been a blow-out by the Bills, and instead, it’s going to end in a loss. I don’t think that the Bills will be able to win, down by 15 with three minutes left.

And I was right. Even though they had a successful onside kick, They blew the game 28-20. It was a game I was predicting they would win, 17-7 or 38-3. I didn’t figure they would lose. Then again, I didn’t expect the boneheaded plays, nor did I expect the stupid mistakes. They should have stuck to the gameplan from the last two games: run, run, run. Pass once in a while. Dominate on defense and special teams. That’s what was working. It wasn’t trick plays, and attempts to fool the opposition. It wa straight up, hard-nosed, smart football.

You know what happens when you try to get smart? You get shown how stupid you are.
