New Story
I wrote a new story today. It’s been a long time coming, considering that I haven’t written any fiction since December. But, it is one that has been kicking around my head for quite some time.
This weekend, I finally finished installing the bulk of my software, and decided that since I was starting over with that, I may as well write this story that has been kicking around my head for about a month now. It stems from a Toastmasters meeting at work. THe guy that was handling it that week asked the question, “You are backing out of your driveway, only to discover that you’ve killed your neighbor’s cat. How do you tell them?” I’m not good at thinkjing on the fly, but that scenario intrigued me, and I thought about it, let it stew in the back of my head, and finally, yeaterday, let it all come out. It’s a good piece.
Unfortunately, though, I was up until 2am working on the finishing touches: changing a word here, adding a sentence there, taking another out here, and re-writing a paragraph there. It’s quite a lot of work, writing. I enjoy it, don’t get me wrong, but it’s very exhausting, and I’m quite tired today.
