Stumble It!Mythbusters

Filed under: Fun Stuff — Eric Ptak @ 8:09 am

Lately, on Wednesday nights, I’ve been watching Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel. I usually catch it while on the treadmill or elliptical at the gym. I’ve come to like it a lot. Two guys, with at least a cursory knowledge in physics and engineering go out, build stuff, and bunk or debunk myths. It’s just so much fun, and I envy them. I wish I was working a job where I could build shit to play with and blow up.

Last night, they decided to debunk the “car fitted with a rocket engine slams into a canyon wall” myth. They took an old Chevy, gutted it, tied the roof to the frame and reinforced the inside. This was to make sure that the rockets, whose launch tubes were welded to the top, didn’t rip the roof off. Then they fitted it with remote controls, took it out to the desert and literally played with the biggest remote control car in the world.

I was laughing, smiling and extremely envious that they get to do that. After driving a remote control car fitted with rocket engines, what else is there to do in life?
