Bills Draft so Far
We selected Donte Whittner, a strong safety, and John McCargo, a defensive tackle in the first round. To get him, we gave away two picks. I hope this guy is worth it. Oddly enough, they are both juniors who opted out of their senior years to enter the draft. They are both pretty highly regarded. It looks like there’s some concentration on beefing the defense.
The next pick is the ninth in the third round, the eighth in the fourth, the first and tenth in the fifth, ninth in the sixth, eighth and fortieth in the seventh. We will have a total of 9 picks, provided we don’t trade to get more or fewer picks. Hopefully, they will get what we need for the offensive and defensive lines, the areas that need the most attention on the team. THe o-line has been virtually neglected for so long, it is no surprise that our offense was sketchy at best. And the d-line has been average at best.
As John Madden used to say, you can tell which team is winning the game by watching which way the piles move. We have to have people who will move piles. Sure, we’ve signed a lot of OL and DTs in free agency, I really can’t say I know much about these players yet. Once hockey is done, I’ll be able to look at the players and make an asssessment on what I think they will do this season.
