Stumble It!Bills lose to the Pathetic Lions, 20-17 (which says what about the Bills?)

Filed under: Sports — Eric Ptak @ 3:11 pm

This is a game that we should win, hands down. Their defense is sspect, they get outscored in the first and fourth quarters, and the Lions have three startes on the offensive line out.

And the way it started, wih a sack, we should take it, easily. EXCEPT FOR RUNS LIKE THAT! What the hell??? Detroit is just marching on our defense. This is horrendous. Six plays and they are at the two-yard line? Jeeez-us Kee-rist! And they are going for it! What the fuck! THANKFULLY they stop them on downs.

And the Bills go three and out. They actually lost yardage on the series. That is not how we will win the game, and if we continue to play like that, we deserve to lose for the rest of the season. When the best player on the team is your punter, you are in way too much trouble.

And I just lost a lot of writing. Suffice to say that I am highly fucking disappointed with the way the Bills are playing. They didn’t even show up, for god’s sake. 10-0, and Detroit just intercepted. McGahee is hurt, and hopefully will not be out for long.

Thankfully, the defense is able to stop them on a three and out, and take over close to the 50. Two plays later, and Losman has to scramble and throws a TD. Now, THAT’S what I’m talking about!!!Good play by JP to see Parrish downfield. Since the offensive line is really offensive, he’s going to have to do that today, unfortunately. And if that’s what it takes to win, then that’s what he is going to have to do.

I don’t know what the hell is up with Clementss and McGee. They’ve been playing really shitty for a couple of games, and they are the veterans in the secondary. And the Lions are going for it on 4th-and-1. A penalty negates that, but the Bills got three-and-out. Then the Lions go three-and-out and almost give the ball to the Bills. What did I say, a battle for who wants the first pick in next year’s draft?

Here we go. A couple of good runs by McGahee, just like I said they needed to do. But then, a long incomplete pass, and Moorman has to earn his Pro-bowl spot again. Maybe WE can get a safety.

We stop them, but then our offense does nothing, and Detroit drives again. They’re finding gaps in the cover-2. I really don’t know that I like that defense. If you don’t play it perfectly, you’re going to get scored on. You can’t play it as much as the Bills play it, because teams will drive on you like the Lions are driving on the Bills. 53 seconds, and the defense is letting them get out of bounds, letting them catch balls, letting them do anything. And McGee gets beaten for the TD. Sure, he can run back kicks, but he’s supposed to stop TDs, not let them get scored in 1:52 in the waning moments of the half. How fucking pathetic.

And then he does something that makes you want to keep him: a 72-yard kickoff return. Now, THAT’S what I’m talking about! All we have to do is capitalize on it. But a loss of 17 yards on a sack is not going to do it for you. This line is offensive. They are giving Losman absolutely ZERO protection, and now Lindell has to hit a 53-yarder, which he of course makes, but he shouldn’t have to do that.

We had better have a better second half. Especially since we are down by a touchdown. Detroit dominated in practically every category except for return yardage. It’s not awful, it’s fucking awful.

Losman starts out the second half running around to make the first down, then launches a couple downfield for misses. THey take an unnecessary timeout due to bad clock management. Moorman punts and pins the Lions deep inside the five-yard line.

But it’s all for nayught, because the Bills defensive secondary is being picked apart by Kitna. The defense is playing awfully. The only thing that’s saving the Bills on this drive is an illegal shift penalty. But even that doesn’t matter. The secondary is having the shittiest game I’ve seen in a long time. The Bills simply can’t stop the Lions.

And eventually they do, after a couple of incomplete passes and a sack. Losman starts moving the Bills (FINALLY!) and Losman is sacked on the blind side and loses the ball. that’s the fourth sack today, when the Lions have only had 6 sacks all season. The line and the backs are not picking up their blocks and are killing Losman.

Detroit moves the chains easily, aided by a roughing the passer call. It was kind of a cheesy call, as Kitna should have been called for intentional grounding. But there’s almost no pressure on Kitna, and he’s just picking the Bills young secondary apart. Whittner almost intercepts. I think he did, but even after the review, the referees didn’t think it was good enough to overturn, and the Lions kick a field goal.

As shitty as the Bills have been playing, they are only down by 10 points, which goes back to what I was saying earlier. Who wants to lose this game more? All the Bills have to do is mount a drive, and they are right back in there, and they can actually win this pig.

A couple of quick passes, and the Bills are at the Lions 40. Quick passes. That’s what they need, to get the receivers out there quickly, and let Losman throw. And RUN THE BALL TO CHEW UP CLOCK. Five minutes off of the clock, and the Bills are down by three. Just under 10 minutes left, and the Bills are not out of it.

They have to stopDetriot here. An interception, a fumble recovery, or even a punt would do, but Detroit is just jamming the ball down the field. Four plays and they are at midfield. But the next play, Simpson intercepts it on the three. A helmet hit as Losman releases gives the Bills a first down at the 18. A touchdown here would be sweet. But first, we need to eat some clock. *smack* *smack* Yummmm . . . nothing like clock. But interceptions and sacks are not the way to eat clock. So Detroit gets it with just over two minutes left. They run the clock down to a half-minute left before punting to the Bills from the 40.

It winds up being 76 yards and 9 seconds. Wait, a false start. That makes it 81 yards. How bad do they want to lose? A pass, and two seconds left. Hail Mary time. But you have to protect the QB in order to do that. And a short pass winds up getting lateraled for an interception and a loss. What a joke.

They deserved to lose this game. They deserve to lose for the rest of the season they way they played today. Sure we had the storm, and maybe that had a part to play in it, but the Bills never really tried until it was too late. A shitty game all around.
