Stumble It!The First Veto

Filed under: Politics — Eric Ptak @ 11:47 am

Isn’t it amazing, that over 5 years into the presidency, Bush finally uses his first veto? And what did he use it on? A stem-cell research bill. Not a bill that will result in Americans dying in a far-away country, not a bill that will explode the deficit, not a bill that will take away our rights, not a bill that is inherently unconstitutional. He vetoed a bill which expands the federal funding of stem-cell research.

From what I understand, they were talking about using leftover embryos from in vitro fertilization, embryos which would be otherwise discarded. Using embryos for research to advance medicine is wrong, but throwing those same embryos out in the trash is OK.

Maybe the President should be consistent and outlaw in vitro fertilization techniques. After all, they are in the process creating and destroying millions of viable human beings. It’s such a tragic loss. And we let this go on?

Ban in vitro fertilization techniques. Contact your representatives in Congress and at your state and local levels today.
