An Anniversary

Thirty years ago, the famous Blizzard of 1977 [1] was happening. Lake Erie had frozen over, and a lot of snow was deposited on its icy surface. Then, on the 28th of January, a storm came out of the4 midwest, and like a big powersweeper, took all that snow and dumped it on WNY like a thick snowy blanket. It was an insane amount of snow to see coming down, but ironically, there was only 12 inches of new snow that fell.

I remember beign out of school, and all the fun times sledding down hills that winter. There was a snowthrower that came down our road, and threw the snow several hundred feet to the side, carving a huge channel in the all-pervasive snow drift.

It was an awe-inspiring sight.
