Surging Against Insurgency

21,000 additional troops to Iraq.

No wait, that’s 21,000 troops that are in Iraq that will be staying longer.

That’s not a surge, that’s just pissing off already overstressed troops. It’s a load of crap that will do nothing to stabilize the country. If anything, it’ll create even more insurgents.

Here’s an idea: get the required number of troops there that were needed before this illegal war started: 350,000 total. Whether they are from the US, from coalition partners, or from new partners, I don’t care. That’s the minimun number of troops needed to be there, though.

You want them all from the USA? Reinstate the draft. No one male or female up to and including the age of 40 is ineligible, unless they are missing the ability to use a large part (or missing that part) of their body: i.e. your left arm was amputated when you were a kid due to an accidentor you are wheelchair-bound because you were hit by a car and paralyzed from the neck down, or you are one of Jerry’s kids.

You want them from other countries in the coalition, or other potential partners? Try some diplomacy. Get them to send more troops instead of pulling them out.

Otherwise, it’s time to get the fuck out of Iraq.
