New Orleans

Can you believe there are sections of New Orleans that do not have electricity yet? That’s just amazing. It was one of the most horrific tragedies ever visited on our borders, and we, as a nation, have not focused enough energy, effort and money on fixing it.

On a lighter note, I was talking with a woman from New Orleans last week. She lives in a FEMA trailer while she waits for her home to be repaired. She was telling me that the trailers are useless for cooking, unless you like microwave food. She said that everyone is barbequeing alot, and with the blackouts and power shortages, the kids in the neighborhood are playing together. She knows and gets along better with her neighbors, some of whom she just knew as a face in the crowd. They have become a closer neighborhood as a result of the tragedy.

There is a silver lining to every cloud.
