Charity

Out of each paycheck comes a donation for the United Way.

Each month, WNED-AM [1] hits my account for about $12, since I listen to public radio so much, I figure that I’d become a member.

I have been alternating, by the month, donating blood or platelets to the Red Cross.

I get solicitations all the time in emails from various environmental groups and progressive political action committees for donations of money and time.

I get stuff in the mail, saying “Hey, send us money.”

Now I have a certain relative begging for money, when that person needs to get a job that pays more than minimum wage.

And then, to top it off, yeaterday, the Red Cross hits me up for money. What am I, Daddy Warbucks? Bill Gates? A recent Lotto winner? Secretly a millionaire? I wish I knew where all this money was supposed to come from.

Maybe people are anticipating the large sums of money I will someday make off of this site and from my writings. I don’t know.

I just hate people who ask me for things I don’t have.
