Removing Toll Barriers? NOT!

There has been a movement to remove the toll barriers off of the I-190 arterials in Western New York. This has been spearheaded in Congress by the local Representative, Brian Higgins [1]. While this is a good idea, and I commend everyone for doing what they can to remove them, I don’t think it will be happening none too soon. People have been bitching about it for a long time, and nothing has happened.

One of the problems is that in other cities of upstate New York, like Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany, th e Thruway Authority took thier tolls down long ago, if they ever existed. So, here’s my suggestion: instead of cutting off funding if the Thruway doesn’t remove the I-190 barriers, force them to place tolls on the I-390, 490, 590, 690, 787, 790? Make all the other people in NYS pay their way. It’s only fair. Too bad if they don’t like it. We’ve been dealing with it for years. Let them start dealing with it too, instead of sponging off of the good citizenry of Western New York.
