Pominville!!!

What a game! It was tense, and while I did pick the Sabres to win in six, I’ll take a win in five. I even predicted yesterday that the Sens would score 2 goals in the first, and the Sabres would have a hard time evening up, forcing game six in Buffalo. Thankfully, I was wrong.

“Who’s going to be the hero?” I’m sure that’s what they were saying in the locker room, and Pominville stepped up. The Sabres were short-handed, too. He just took it in, spun around Alferdsson, made a nice move on Emery and put it in the net.

It was sweet.

The Sabres now have the highest average goals per game of all the teams in the playoffs, and are tied with Anaheim for win percentage. They are fifth in goals against. The powerplay and penalty kill haven’t been as good as they had been during the season. Out of the top thirty in points for the playoffs, there are seven Sabres. In the plus/minus, 9 out of the top 30 are Sabres. For the most part, this all bodes well for the Sabres.

Based on a quick review of the stats, I’d say that the Sabres are going to meet Anaheim for the Cup.

Eight more wins. That’s all we need.
