Being Ahead of the Curve

I had a conversation at the gym yesterday with one of the guys about the War on Terra. It never ceases to amaze me how far ahead of the curve I am sometimes. Before the War in Iraq, in 2002, I was calling all the reasons to go bullshit. I knew, from reading reports and such that there were no WMDs and that Saddam was not a threat of any kind. I knew the intelligence reports were crap. I knew that we would have little or no support from around the world. I knew that we weren’t sending enough troops. I knew that it would cost hundreds of billions more than they were estimating. I knew it would devolve into a civil war. I knew we were being lied to. I knew that the USA’s image would be tarnished. I knew that the Ex-Cokehead-in-Chief would screw everything up. I knew that it would fail.

Now that what I knew would happen has come true, a majority of the people in this country realize that this was the biggest mistake this country ever made. The problem is, not one person who called me unpatriotic for opposing the war has said to me, “I’m sorry, you were right.” A couple have addmitted they were wrong, mind you, and I respect that. But no one has admitted that I was right.

It’s frustrating as hell, being ahead of the curve.
