Pain Killers

Two weeks ago, I sustained a bruised bone in my right foot, the fourth metatarsus. There’s no break or fracture, and in all likelihood was caused by

running with shoes too loose and stepping the wrong way in a pothole in the street, or
running on a treadmill with my sneakers too tight.

By favoring that foot and walking on it un-naturally, this injury caused additional pain in the cuboid arctic and third cuniform arctic. My foot is now in a brace, and I am taking pain-killers. I am avoiding placing unnecessary stress on that foot, and especially avoiding running until it is healed.

I haven’t done any prescriptions, because I don’t think it’s necessary. Some friends think I should take advantage of that and get some Loritabs or something along those lines, but then they are borderline alcoholics and drug addicts, obviously thinking of another chemical to ease the pain of everyday life.Instead, I am taking a regimen of aspirin, Tylenol, and ibuprofen.

Two aspirin gives the same relief as an extra-strength Tylenol, or 800mg of ibuprofen. Isn’t it amazing sometimes how the simplest and most basic medications are sometimes the best? The only problem with the aspirin is the occasional upset stomach: thank goodness for Tums.
